i've been thinking about when i die. and it's not fun.
don't bring huge bouquets, bring a single flower.
don't make one of those photo collages, just one photo.
don't do a viewing.
and there better be music.
oh, there better.
wear whatever you want.
you don't have to stand.
visitations are good.
do something i would've done. like an elastic band.
cry or don't.
don't try to out-know me. "how did you know andy?"
call me andy, call me andrew, call me captain, call me whatever -- just make it catchy.
don't just sign the guestbook.
don't bother my family -- if they want to sit, let them.
don't say "i just can't imagine" or any variant.
turn off your phone.
sit outside, late that night. or watch a movie. or talk to that special person. or listen to music.

no, i'm not morbid. i'm just circumstantial.

andy, its not NORMAL to think that detailed about your funeral...you're 15!!!

but if it pleases you..go right ahead..maybe we should be taking notes.

it's also not normal to have been to seven funerals by fifteen.

i said it was situational.

Andy said...

and i think there's nothing wrong with it.

oh captain, my captain.

...yes.

can i burn your name in the funeral home wall?

can i write on your coffin?

can we cry on demand?

assuming we outlive you, and not you us. or maybe it'll be different.

its "morbidly circumstantial".

Andy said...

this is where you and i differ.

Unconscious said...

damn. i had great things to jot down on your coffin. think giant post it note...wait. no.

Andy said...

wow... the respect is mind blowing.

i don't think it's really that morbid. everyone thinks about death at one point or another. it only starts to get morbid when you dwell on it.

i've always wondered how people will react when i die. hopefully they don't decide to vandalise my coffin.

Andy said...

i wonder too.

usually they cry. and talk.

Unconscious said...

hey its not vandalism i would like to leave some very respectful 'points' on andy's coffin. but nobody seems to appreciate that do they...

it's got nothing to do with the fact that you're "writing on my coffin."

it's got everything to do with me being serious.

we put the FUN back in FUNERAL.

Unconscious said...

and im not serious? well then will you give me permission to write on your coffin then if what-so happens to happen? ...i can be serious too.

respect is a serious matter...
